FRIENDSHIP CHAIRS!

In term 3 our class decided that we were sick and tired of seeing people walking around, alone. One group came up with the idea of a ‘Friendship chair’. They said that it would be somewhere for people to go if they had no one to play with. After the rest of us agreed with them, we started to plan exactly how we were going to pull this off.
First we discussed if we were going to modify a ready made chair or build our own. We were lucky enough to be donated a chair from Nicky and a chair from Denise – two kind parents from our class.
Then we had a designing competition to decide on the design for the first chair. The winning chair design was called ‘The Floating Planets’ which was a cross between the sea and space. Then we combined all the other designs to make a design for our second chair.
After a lot of painting, building and hard work, we managed to get our friendship chairs out just in time for the start of term 4- we hope they will come into good use.

A Wonderful Performance

This week we had a wonderful performance by Ollie. She came to our school to show us how to perform in front of others. She did a wide range of different tricks such as spinning plates, juggling and riding a unicycle on a rope. When she was performing she only had music and never said a word, she kept us entertained by her facial expressions and her very interesting puppet.

She is here to help give us some ideas about creating and communicating with the arts.
