Slip, Slop, Slap and Wrap, be sunsmart

Right now in this term we have been learning about slip slop slap and wrap
and also how to be sunsmart. It has been fun but some times it scares me when you see some people that have been damaged by the sun.

Narratives and stories

Over the last term with Mrs Mcleod we have been writing narratives and myths and its been fun creating our stories because it gives people the opportunity to let their imagination run wild. I also enjoy it because it is better than just being given a maths sheet and being told when to do it and how to do it.

Red-cricket team

Over the last few weeks we have been playing cricket against other schools. We have played Harewood, Halswell, Hoon Hay and Thorrington and we have won all our games so far but we have one more game and that is against Thorrington.

Hi from Room 4

Hi Room 6
We have added Room 6 to our followers list as well and we look forward to reading about your learning. We hope you will visit our blog and comment on our learning.

Hi from Mrs Patten and Room 4

Hi Room 9
I have added you to our followers list so that we can follow your learning.
I have really enjoyed reading your blog posts. You have really taken this new learning tool on well and I find it very interesting to read what you are learning about at school.
Well done Josh and Emma you are being great tutors. Your next step in learning is for each of you to teach these skills to one other person in the class, then they can do the same and before long all the class will be experts. This means that Josh and Emma can move on and learn more skills to teach the rest of the class. I wonder what will be next? Perhaps photos on your posts?
Well done team.
I hope you will visit Room 4's blog and write a comment on what our students are learning about. I know they would love to hear from you.

Athletics

on the 22 of October we had our athletics day and everybody dressed to support their house colours this is the 11 year old girls routine :

*LONG JUMP 2
*DISCUSS 2
*HIGH JUMP 2
___________
*SHOT PUT 2
*LONG DISTANCE

In long jump my biggest jump was 2.90
In discuss my throw was approx. 3.05
In high jump we started on 85cm I didn't get over the 1st time but I did the 2nd time and I did the same when it was 1m but I couldn't get over 1.05cm
In shot put my shot was 3.11m
And in long distance Sarah came 1st but I didn't run long distance but I ran sprints and got 2nd but in the finals I came 6th and that was in the 60m sprints and I also signed up for the 100m sprints and then I saw how long it was and said "I'm not running that!"

athletics

Last week we had our athletcs day there were many avents I came 2nd in high jump 3rd in long jump and 4th in long distance It was really fun the zones are on tuesday and I am going for high jump and relays I am nervous but also excited.

maths race

In our maths this week we have been doing a maths game that makes us better at our times tables.First you find the right table, then you have 3 min for you to finish all the questions in the given time . Today we did 4 times tables and I got all correct.

Relays

On the 30th October we had our Shooting Stars and SuperNova team relay competition.
The first team was the Shooting Stars Girls with Rooms 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, but Room 4 had 2 teams I was in one of them. My team came 2nd to last, but the other Room 4 team came 3rd.
Room 6 came first.
Room 1, the boys class, were dressed as girls and they looked really funny. Because of this they raced the teachers and the teachers won, of course!! The teachers running were Mr Hilary, Mr Muller, Mr McBride and Mr Donaldson, our caretaker.
After this all of the winning teams raced against each other but Rooms 1, 2, 3, 6, and 8 all had to be muddled to make it fair.
We had a great afternoon and thought all students competed really well. We still think the boys class dressing up as girls for their entry in the girls' relay race was the highlight of the day.
Well done everyone.

Maths

In maths we have these racetrack books which are numbered 1 to about 13 with racetracks full of times tables and other questions

End of School Trip

This term we are going to have an end of school trip to a surprise place that nobody knows about. I can't wait for this trip to come

Cinderella Jones Production

"Cinderella Jones" was awesome eventhough some mistakes were made. It was so much fun performing in front of people instead of pretending they were there. Most of the tickets were sold and the crowd gaves us lots of laughs and support. Our make up looked really funny for the lights, so we looked like we had eyes. It was awesome, I hope you were there to see it.

Athletics

Last week we had athletics the events were shotput which I came 2nd in, then there was discus which Demi came 2nd in, then long distance which I came 4th, then long jump, then high jump which I came 2nd in and then sprints which I came 1st in. So we have to go to the zones to represent the events we came 1st and 2nd in. If we get 1st or 2nd in some events at the zones we go to the Canterburys. This week on Friday we are having our house colour relay.

Cinderella Jones

Our school is putting on production called "Cinderella Jones". Cinderella Jone's is about a lonely Girl called Sally Jone's who dreams of fitting into the cafe crowd and her two sisters called Maggie and Geri have been dreaming about meeting Matt vinyl the DJ. Then Pattie o Dawes comes to Sally's rescue when she needs to go to the hippest party in town. Pattie and her back ground singers the Squee Gees (that's me and another three girls) do their little jingle and Sally comes out and transforms into "CINDERELLA JONES". She heads to the coolest party in town. In meantime Surfin' Sam gets his glad rags on and in the end Sally and Surfin' Sam fall for each other and Matt Vinyl, the mice, Spin and Dex do a dance. Matt Vinyl has an emotional break down but Maggie and Geri just can`t get enough of him and they catch him just before he falls. I hope you enjoyed it, if you were able to come and see it.

Reading

Cinderella Jones

Cinderella Jones is the school production. Tonight is our show night!!!! We are nearly sold out, yesterday there were 127 seats of 412 left, but Miss H was still getting lots of people wanting to buy them. We have had lots and lots of practice, 2 and a 1/2 months worth. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!

Reading

In reading we are focusing on picture story books(sophisticated story books)and looking how the pictures help to tell the story. We read this story called Varmids about an animal who changes the world with a little bit of mother nature.

Celebration of Learning Assembly

Last Term room4 was in charge of the celebration of learning assembly,me and Shayden hosted it and read our mihimihis,it was pretty scary getting up ion front of the school but we did good.
That was the first time i had ever hosted a assembly. All the classes had a chance to share what they had been learning in term 3.Heaps of the presentations were cool!

The Genral Grant

Last Term room4 learnt about The General Grant,We got read the story and then we got to write a report about it,in our own words. The General grant was a ship that tried to travel from Victoria,Australia to England. The General Grant was carrying 80 crew and passenegers on board and more than 1 million dollars worth of gold. They were trying to transfer the gold to England to sell for money.I think everyone in the class learnt HEAPS about The General Grant!

Holidays

I hope you are all having a great holiday. I am sure Ashleigh and Jennifer are enjoying Los Angeles and New South Wales, respectively. Jennifer, you must have managed to avoid the great dust storm last Wednesday to get there.
My thoughts this morning are with Raechel and her family as I hear on the news of the earthquake and tsunami near American Samoa in the Pacific. Raechel is in Western Samoa visiting her family, which is in the same region. I hope they are all safe and well. I know we will all be more relaxed when we hear more news of what has happened in Samoa. Stay safe everyone.

My best score is 87 for times but 90 for +. I am very proud of myself.

Candle to Quartz clock

When Mrs McLeod comes into the classroom for the day we start off by learning about Clocks and Time measurement or something. We have been learning about Way back when clocks weren't invented they used to use the sun the moon and the stars as clocks .So when the sun came up the people would get up and when the sun went down and the Moon came up they would go to bed so they could have gone to bed at six o'clock if they wanted to that's a little strange (:

Treasures Inquiry

This term we are studying treasures .We Have got into groups of three or four people and decided on a topic to do a presentation on .My group is Demi ,Tahlia , Jennifer and I,Our topic is Kiwiana clothing style such as gumboots jandals shorts and black singlets. We also have little booklets that we record all of our information in which will then build up to making our presentation!

Maths Week

On Monday Mrs Patten told us that she signed us up for Maths Week 09 and she had made profiles for all of us and we can play heaps of maths games and earn money and then at the end of maths week there will be an auction and you can bid and place bets for mathmatic stuff and then I think you get it sent out to you.

Monday, August 10, 2009

Maths Week 2009

Our teacher signed us up on maths week. Its a maths website that you do challenges on and earn money to buy things in the auction(the money isn't real). It's a good way for learning because it makes people want to win so they can buy stuff in the auction.

Treasures interchange

As a class we have been learning about Treasures we have made Australia,South Africa,Samoan, and mask making and finally flax making,Flax making was hard but you get used to it the first class was mask making we talked about the masks what you have to do is the first teacher we had what she had done was she had up faces some with eyes some with mouths some just plain. The next class we went to the teacher we had had given us some flax to weave a flower. The next class we went to the teacher had given us an outline of a house this was the South Africa art this was to decorate the house because what they do there is they Paint there house and sometimes there cars,The next class we went to was Australia art the teacher we had didn`t let us use green and pink which was fine and last but not least is our own room our teacher has a Samoan theme we are still finishing it but some people are already finished and they look great we all had a great time but to make it look like a real tapa cloth we iron them,Then when their all done we stick them together on one big piece of paper so we all are going to chip in to help each other because that's what class mates do.

Winter Sport

In our school we do winter sport. The sports we can play are Soccer, Rugby, Netball and Hockey. Every Thursday some people go that are in the teams. I'm not in any of the teams so I just stay at school and practice sports with one of our teachers
This week we have been writing poems about treasures of the sea. This my poem
seashell
super Saturday
swished smashed swayed
seashore shell sea-worn sparkling
smacked slipping spiraling
slippery smooth
sandy

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

Poetry

At school we are making poems. We have done a few each but some people have done more than others. Together in the class we did one that was about the sunset. We read a poem in the school journal called sunset then we took some information and remixed it. This is what it was

In the glistening sky
Spilling over black edged hills
Were fiery lava clouds

At The Museum

Last week Room 4 went to The Cantubery Museum. We learnt a heap about what Treasures are to different cultures, mostly about Treasures to the maori. There was a big wood waka that people had found in the river/creek.It would be so cool if we found a valuable Maori Treasure! The best parts out of the whole trip would be the big tree outside the Museum. It was so cool climbing that.I also really liked the body in action part.Oh and the Paua shell house,it was modelled straight after the real paua shell house down at bluff.
Well you have been reading a blog posted by Sharnecho Crofts.
I hope you enjoyed it!

Positive and negitive numbers

This term we have been working with positive and negitve numbers. We have been working with figure it outs books to help us. these are the keys to understand positive from neitive, += positive, - = negitve. I have learnt that if you had +8 + -4 it would = -12 because the to last symbols are different and that means that the answer is going to be a negitive, but if it was like this +7- -3 it would = +10 because the last two numbers are the same so the answer will always be a positive.
In this figure it out book we have to see how many years between the eruptions of the volcanos. The number line has a zero in the middle of it, to the left of the zero it means negative to the right of the zero it means positive.

Poetry

At the moment we are focusing as a class on poetry in reading. We have looked at two different poems, Sunset and Treasures From The Sea. we each had to write 6 poems, 2 diamentes, 2 cinquains, and 2 haikus. Here is one of my haikus:

Seashells
Under the ocean,
Nestling under the sea bed
Are smooth, worn, seashells

Aboriginal Art

At the start of the term room 4,5,6,7 and room 8 were having class exchange learning about different cultures. When we went to room8 it was fun because we all did ABORIGINAL ART and it was sure fun.First we had to choose four different colours or less and we were not allowed to use bright colours or green because Australians never had beautiful green grass like ours they only had brown grass because they were not allowed to wet their grass or else they would get a fine. For my aboriginal art the colours I used were black, red, yellow and orange and my aboriginal art had heaps of spirals.

Toad Rage

After lunch everyday we read Toad Rage. It's a novel about a cane toad that wants to find out why humans hate them so much.Limpy goes on a adventure to try become games mascot and try to make people more friendly to cane toads. On his adventure his cousin called Goliath is found on the road trying to stop traffic. There is a games competitor who finds Limpy and Goliath and Limpy thinks shes going to help make him a games mascot, but hes go the wrong idea.

Museam trip

We are currently working on arts this term and we had a visit to the museum to give us an idea about what we would be working with this term. It was fun to see what we would be drawing and painting this term.

The Museum

Our class had a trip to the museum it was amazing,The body in action was the most fun for me,The body in action was a board game and lots of other things but the board game was really exciting what you did first was you went down the tongue silde you grabbed the dice and you rolled it,you went through the intstines then you came out "THE OTHER END",There was a running game my time was 1.62 But we all had a good time and thats the great thing.

MUSEUM TRIP

Last week we went to the museum and it was awesome. The funest thing there was ''BODY'N'ACTION''because it was about body parts.I am going to tell you about what we did.
The first thing we did was go down the slide, then we got a dice and rolled it, then what ever number we got we had to go to a number and it is like snakes and leaders but it doesn't have snakes and the leaders. Then we had to go through the bottom of the person that we went round.
After that I went through a runing thing and you got timed and my time was 1.46 seconds.after that we went to some other stuff and then after that it was the end of our trip to the MUSEUM.
BY SOPHIE

Minigeofix

This term we have had minigeofix as our challenge box game. We have been making all sorts of creations like flowers, spinning tops, cubes, balls and other things. Minigeofix is like magnetix except instead of the magnetix joining together you have to click it together! There are four colours we can choose from, pink, yellow, green, or blue! There are also lots of different shapes like a hexagon, triangles, squares and some others.

Treasures

In school we are learning about treasures. We started going to another class and learning about what peoples treasures are and how they share them with masks. In another class we were learning about Kiwiana and making flax flowers. In the 3rd class we were looking at the South African house designs. The last class we went into we were creating a piece of Aboriginal art using 4 colors that were only dark

Treasures

This week we have been learning about our and other cultures treasures we also did a topic interchange and when we went to Miss Harris' class we learnt aboyut masks and they can be used for many reasons, like death, life boys coming of age and lots of other things.
We also went to Mr Mulers class we made flax flowers everybody thought that it was really hard but I thought it was easy because I had made one before.
When we went to Mr Woollands class we all learnt about South African houses and what they are made from.
Last but not least when we went to Mr Hilary's class we learnt about Aboriginal art and we got to make our own picture using dots, lines, circles and some Australian animals.

Bubblemania

Hello Isabel
We hope you are continuing to have a great holiday. Thanks for your regular posts, it's great to hear your news.
All students have "must dos" and "can dos" this week, tasks to complete before the end of term. They are all getting through a lot of work and there are some great stories being published. You will be amazed at some of the bubble learning students have included in their comic life documents.
We have made some amazing bubbles this week, the biggest over 1 metre long and 8ocm wide, using a wire coathanger bubble thrower. I will add a photo of it in action. The cones have worked well too.
We hope to be able to play our last netball game of the term tomorrow, although it has been wet and cold all week, so it may be cancelled.
We have had small classes this week as many students have been away with colds and flus, one day there were 12 students away.
Remember to check out the wiki and the school website for the latest newsletters for you and your mum and dad.
We look forward to hearing more news.

Bubbleology

The last couple of weeks we have been doing bubbleology. We have been using lots of different tools like wire, magazine paper rolled into cones, straws and lots of other cool things. I have learnt that the best blower was the cones made out of magazine paper. Other people in my class have been changing the mixture to see if it will help make bigger and better bubbles.

Mrs McLeod showed us some bubble mixture she made at home and showed us how to make a bubble blower out of a magazine page and it made huge bubbles. We also used a straw to blow bubbles. Hope you are having a nice time in New Plymouth.

How to upload a photo.

Hi Ashleigh
It is good to see you are having a neat holiday, and yes I did see Tamati in NP and was looking out for you. I see you are having cold weather there too.
At the top of the window where you write your blogpost you will see a small photo. If you hold the mouse over it it will say "add image" Click on that to browse (find) a photo on your computer to upload it. If you can make it a smaller size it will upload more quickly. You can choose where on you blog you want it to be and make it medium size. Where the photo appears in your "Create blog" window it will show as a lot of words but when you view the blog it will be the photo. Then save it.
The students are going to be posting a blog post for you soon.

Me Again : )

Hey It's Ashleigh again just asking if any of you watched breakfast this morning 'cause Tamiti the weather guy was in New Plymouth with a bunch of kids I didn't know (Hehe) anyway today I am going to my auntys house and then i can take some pics of the American cars 'cause they own a shevy impala which is a car from america of coarse!!!!!!! and the mountain looks beautiful this morning !!!!! so i will get pics of that!!! bye 4 now!! : ) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Fun Topic 09

This term we have been learning about bubbles. We swapped classes with other classes and did different activities. We did fun things like making bubbles with different things. My favorite activity was the fizzing bag of bubbles.what we had to do was put some baking soda, vinegar and hot water and the baking soda was wrapped in a hand towel.we would have a small seal bag with the hot water and vinegar in it and then we would put the baking soda that was wrapped in the hand towel in the seal bag and go outside and shake the bag and it would explode.the second time we did it we changed the amount of baking soda.IT WENT BANG!

south west zones

At the quarry I did cross country for Oaklands School. It was so hard because I had to run up hill.I got tired running.I came 2 out of 56.I was so happy about my running. Now I'm going to the Canterbury.

Bubbles

We have been studying bubbles the last couple of weeks. Last Friday we experimented to see which tools to make bubbles work the best.

After we had done that we had to write about what we learnt and what tools worked the best!

Fair Testing

We have been learning how to run a fair test. Our favourite excperiment was making bottle cannnons.
We first put vinegar in the bottle and then baking soda wrapped up in a tissue.
We then put a cork on the top then walked outside and shook the bottle with our thumb on the cork. The mixture fizzed up and the cork flew off. This is because of the chemical reaction that occurred between the baking soda and the vinegar.

Bubbleology

In room 4 and around the school we have been learning about the study of bubbles, also called bubbleology. It has been great fun as we have been learning about fair tests. We have done lots of experiments with baking soda and vinegar. We learnt that when baking soda and vinegar touch it makes a chemical reaction. We have learnt so much about bubbles and fair tests. We are having a great time!

Writing Group 09

This year our school have a writing group for the gifted and talented. Mr Wethey is the leader of the group and the members are Timiny, Molly, Annaleise, Amy, Shayden, Jennifer, Sarah, Kusual, Zoe, Olivia and Michela. For the Kids News we have to write a book review, a letter to the editor, and a newspaper article. We have nearly all done the book review, starting on the letter to the editor.

Winter Sport

For the last two weeks we have been going to Hagley Park for the winter sport games the netball A team won the first game but there was a twist to the game because at half time we were leading 17/nil so they mixed up the teams and put Mairehau with Oaklands and the score stayed at 17/nil.
The next week we versed Shirley and lost by four but it was still a good game. I hope we win the games in the future.

Winter sport 2009

For sport oaklands pupils in years 5-8 can trial for a winter sport the sports that you can trial for are:Rugby,Netball,Hockey and Soccer.I trialled for Netball and I was lucky enough to make it into the A team. The A team for netball have played two games we have meant to have played three but sadly the first game was canceled, the first game we got to play we won 17-0 but at half time the other team hadn't got a goal so the second half we mixed the teams up so it was fair we kept the score from what it was at half time, but sadly the second game we lost 16-12 we have more games and we are hoping to win them!!!

Bubbleology

At school we have been learning about the science of bubbles called bubbleology. So far we have been experimenting on conducting a fair test. We have been working with bicarbonate soda and vinegar. We have done a few experiments like the fizzing bag of bubbles where you but baking soda and vinegar in a plastic bag then we took it outside and shook it, but I shook it too long and it exploded on my school t-shirt.

Reflection Time

Every Friday all the class' in the school have something called Reflection Time and the parents of children in that class come in to listen to the children and we have to write down or share from our head and share to the class.

Halswell Quarry.

AT the Halswell Quarry we went on a tramp walk it was fun but very retiring from
walking up very steep and high hills.

We had so much fun and games that we were all tired when we got back school.

The Halswell Quarry

On Tuesday we went to the Halswell Quarry for some fun at the end of the term.It was fun because at first all we had to do was eat then go and play. After we played for awhile then we went for a tramp. We came back for lunch and played .Then after lunch we had to make some environmental art. THE END.

Halswel Quarry

On Tuesday this week we went to Halswell Quarry. We went in cars .My Mum helped by bringing her car. We took Nicole.P , Chontelle and Mikayla . When we got there we met under some trees and had morning tea. Then we could run around and do whatever . There was a big steep hill there and everyone was going up the hill and then running down.
Then morning tea was over , we went class by class up the track to see views, and facts along the way. We went higher and higher everytime and the views were getting better all the time. Then we started going down hill it was fun cause every so often there was a really steep bit you could pretty much slide down and then skid at the end. Finally we got to the bottom we went to the single mens house . There were alot of old things some of us even got a picture taken of us in the bath!. Then we went back for lunch and after lunch we had a play around and then we had to do environmental art. Me and Mikayla made a stick girl made out of pine cones and logs and bark and leaves. Then we went back and then we had to go home my mum took us back to school but I went home early.

Halswell Quarry

It was really fun because we did a really long walk and learnt about the history of the Halswell Quarry. After we got back from the long walk we had lunch. Then after we had lunch the teachers told us to make something only out of nature so Ashleigh and I made a stick man out of pine cones, sticks, and rocks. It was really fun making things out on nature. And also climbing up the hills was really fun because we fell over alot. Ashleigh's Mum took Chontelle Nicole.P Ashleigh and I to the Halswell Quarry and back to school. On Wednesday Mrs.Patten showed all of the class the photos that we took. There were alot of photos showing us the pictures of what the other children made out of nature it was amazing. There were also alot of photos of the view from Halswell Quarry and alot of Photos of children climbing the hills. When we all got back from the Halswell Quarry we were all tired and wanted to go home but apart from that we had a great day!!!!!

Environmental Art.

For our Environmental Art we had to get two pieces of paper and get at less four crayons. When had those things then we went
outside and we did some rubbings on one of the piece of paper then when we finished our rubbings we had to collect our rubbings inside. When we had finished our rubbings we started cutting leaves and that out of our rubbings we did .Then we

made our trees out of our rubbings and then we tuck it on the other piece of paper. then we stuck it on a black piece of paper and then our teacher hang it up on the walls all around the classroom.

Kia Kaha

This Week and last week Constable Maire came to our class and talked to us about being bullied and what to do if it ever happens to you last week she read us a story about a boy called Sione who was being bullied by a boy called Mathew . We got into groups with our talking partners and another pair of talking partners .We had to draw a picture of a scene from the story. this week we had to do role plays with a group. My group did a scene that was about a girl getting bullied and what she had to do about it.We enjoyed doing the statues and scenes a lot .

what now slam sophie

On Wednesday the 25th of march the shooting stars team went to watch the What Now show called Slam. When we got off the bus we had to wait round for about 20 mins before we could walk up a big hill to see the teams doing the courses. The teams were about 10 or 9 or even 11 years old.We were all excited when we were on the bus.We were all screaming and shouting because we were nearly at the What Now Slam. The What Now Slam thing was at the Quarry in Halswell.
When we were aloud to go up the hill we were all running with our class but I was not running up the hill because it was to sep to go up.Finally we were there seeing the teams doing the coures and getting all dirty. We were going to get foamed but we hadto come back to school because it was 3 o'clock but it was 3 fifteen when we got back to school.

What now

We are going to tell you about our trip to the Halswell Quarry
Well at the Halswell Quarry we saw WHAT NOW we saw nearly everyone on the What now show and the thing that wasn't any good was it was very very hot. There was a huge obstacle course and it had a very steep hill were they got sprayed with water. Another bad thing was all we did was stand up cheer sit down stand up cheer sit down over and over again. At the end we got to see Tu Mehe off what now and he was just congratulating everyone who competed. Alot of the time we were just walking up and down the hill because the people at what now had to have a break or they had to have their lunch and it was very tiring walking up the hill but it wasn't very tiring walking down the hill but it got boring. The End

Kia Kaha

This term for our topic we have been working on Kia Kaha which means to stand strong. A police education officer came in and read us a story about bullying then we had to draw a picture about one of the scenes in the story with a group of four people. We learnt that bullying is not ok and it's good to stick up for others and be strong. We have also created shields and talked about why we are unique and why our class is special kia kaha is really fun and we work on it everyday. We made confident kid pictures and wrote times when we are confident on it the whole class did one and they turned out really well.we have a kia kaha box and we write things about how were feeling on it.

Geometry

This week we have been learning about Geometry in maths it was so much fun we had to make shapes out of string with our talking partners and my partner was Ashleigh and we had to go with another set of talking partners and Mrs Pattern put us with Scott and Zenith we learnt how to measure our shapes so they were equal sided and if they wern't we had to make them equal sided the last shape we had to make out of string was a cube which was really hard and my group did not make our cube because we did not know how too but another group did so Mrs Pattern told us to come over and have a look so we did and their cube was awesome.

Explore Parliament is a site we have been going on in ICT .
We played some wicked games and made up laws that we thought were good and that our country should have. In the Ultimate Fizilbee we learnt about how an election worked. We learnt to vote for the person who we thought would do the best for the people.
We also made a bill and we had to go through all of the steps to make it a law. Some of our class created a bill to stop animal testing, which we think is a great idea.
We had great fun learning about making rules and laws!!!

World Maths Day 09!!!!!!

Our teacher signed our class up with a world maths day account. Everyone in our class enjoyed competing on world maths day. World maths day has been a fun site and also with funny avatars that you can make. I think that world maths is really good for learning times, addition and subtraction. World maths day has been a fun experience for kids all over the world and our class has really enjoyed it.

Maths

Today in Maths we learnt how to use number lines for Subtraction

Birds of a feather

First we had to do a title page saying birds of a feather flock together and a background with your habitat on it.Then we had to do a whole lot of quizzes and fill them in and then go up to the teacher and show them to her and get them ticked off.

maths day

We went on the World Maths Day Site.It was so fun because we played other people around the world like China . You also have to answer maths questions. It was cool.

Birds Of A Feather Flock Together.

We learnt about different birds and different habitats.

We were learning this information on
Birds Of a Feather Flock Together.

Different birds have different feet and
different beaks.

Some birds can fly some cant.
Did you know in 1932 a sea eagle picked up a 4 year old girl and droped her on a ledge beneath its nest. She was rescued by her parents practically unharmed.
Did you know there are 17 kinds of penguins. 4 kinds live only in Antarctica.

Birds of a Feather Flock Together

We have been working on this with one of our reliever's once a week. We have enjoyed doing this with her. We have had around 8 work sheets to work on. Once we had finished everything she stapled all the sheets plus our title page together. Myself and Raechel have finished these work sheets and have been stapled together into a booklet. We learnt that the biggest bird alive is an ostrich

This is a photo of Demi's title page.

Birds of a feather flock together

This year we have been learning about birds of a feather. It is a topic about birds.First we had to start on our title pages. We had to have birds in their natural habitats.Next we had to choose an activity about birds. We had some bird quizes , crosswords and wordsearches. When we finished we had to staple them altogether so it made a booklet.
